Meet Our Doctors
Dr. Amy Olsen, DVM
Dr. Amy Olsen was born and raised in Redwood City, CA. She attended UC Davis and earned her Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science in 2010. She then returned to Davis for veterinary school and received her DVM in 2015.
In the summer after her first year of vet school, Dr. Olsen’s dog, Jessie, was diagnosed with cancer. Jessie was her first dog, a part of the family since Dr. Olsen was in 5th grade. Although saying goodbye was difficult, the experience helped Dr. Olsen appreciate the gift that is humane euthanasia. Her sweet companion was at peace.
After graduation, Dr. Olsen worked as a small animal general practitioner for 6.5 years. During that time, she developed a passion for caring for geriatric pets and helping to increase their comfort and quality of life. She also had the opportunity to help some of her patients pass at home, surrounded by their families’ love. She was honored to be able to help support the human-animal bond during such an emotional time.
Dr. Olsen lives in Benicia with her husband, Greg, her son, Jack, and her beloved cross-eyed cat, Mack. She is grateful to be joining Restful Paws, where she can continue to support pets and their people through end-of-life care.
